Tails of Hope Dog Rescue adopts to families in the Memphis area and outside of the Memphis area. For adoptions outside of the Memphis area, a Tails of Hope Dog Rescue volunteer must be available for transport and will complete the required fence check, introductions, and home visit. Tails of Hope Dog Rescue charges a transport fee based on mileage from Memphis. 50% of the transport fee is due 48 hours before the home visit and is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due when the adoption contract is finalized.
Tails of Hope Dog Rescue wants to make the best rescue match, considering the dog's background and your family's needs. Every dog is different in personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs, and more. We consider all these factors when making a furever-home match. Tails of Hope Dog Rescue is very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

Tails of Hope Dog Rescue will review your application within 5-7 days and conduct the required veterinarian and personal reference checks. A Tails of Hope Dog Rescue volunteer will contact you if we have any questions or need clarity.
A Tails of Hope Dog Rescue volunteer will contact you by phone to confirm the details of your application and discuss the dog(s) you are interested in to ensure it's a good match.
Once your phone interview is complete, Tails of Hope Dog Rescue will contact you via email to schedule a home visit. At the home visit, we will conduct a fence check (if applicable), introduce the Tails of Hope Dog Rescue dog(s) to any pets and children in the home, and go over the dog's medical records. If all goes well, we will complete the adoption contract, and your new dog(s) will be yours. All household members must be present during the home visit. This includes all pets.
