I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Oma

I'm Available

Meet Oma!

On May 22nd of this year, we received a plea about an extremely overweight dog—118 pounds, to be exact—who had been confiscated by a shelter. We love a challenge, so we welcomed her with open arms and named her Oma.
We immediately had her tested for diabetes, thyroid issues, and Cushing’s to rule out any medical cause for her condition. Every single test came back perfect. Oma wasn’t sick—she was simply severely overweight. Her target weight was estimated to be around 65–70 pounds.
So her foster mom got right to work. Oma started a healthy diet, gentle walks to the best of her ability, and semi-weekly weigh-ins. On top of all this, Oma was also heartworm positive. She needed to lose the weight before she could even begin treatment, so a careful plan was put into motion.
Fast forward six months… and what a transformation.
Oma now weighs 69 pounds—just about five pounds from her ideal goal—and she has completed her heartworm treatment like an absolute champion. She runs, she walks, and she is truly happy in a way she never got to be before.
Now it’s time for the grand finale: finding Oma her forever home.
She has worked so hard to become healthy, and her foster mom has been nothing short of an angel through it all. Getting Oma adopted will be the perfect ending to her incredible journey—and the beautiful beginning of her next chapter.
Let’s do this for her. Oma deserves it.
She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, current on heartworm and flea prevention, loves car rides, great with other dogs and kids, and just a doll! She would be fine as an only dog or maybe if a family is looking to add another canine companion.
She is about 6 years old and loves life! Oma is in Memphis.
