Meet Desiree!
Desiree is a beautiful red King Charles Cavalier who recently joined our rescue as a breeder release. She is approximately 3 years old, weighs about 13 pounds, and is a very sweet girl who is just beginning her journey into companion life.
Desiree is fully vaccinated, has been wormed, is microchipped, has tested negative for heartworms, and is currently on heartworm and flea prevention. She will be spayed soon.
As a breeder release, needs time to decompress in her foster home and adjust to life as a loved family member rather than a puppy maker. During this time, she will be evaluated to determine the best possible home fit for her needs.
Once Desiree has completed all of her medical care, she will be moved to our list of available dogs. We kindly ask that potential adopters wait until that time to submit an application so we can ensure the best match for both her and her future family.
Based on this dog’s past experiences, we are looking for a home that already has another dog. Dogs coming from a breeder-release situation often do much better with a canine friend, as this is what feels most familiar and comforting to them. Having another dog in the home helps them feel safe and confident, and gives them a wonderful role model for learning how to be a dog and a companion—something very different from their life as a breeder dog.
Thank you for your patience and for supporting rescue dogs like Desiree!
