I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Hi! My Name Is Lyra

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

Meet Lyra!

Lyra was surrendered to a local vet with a severe case of rectal prolapse. Thankfully, we had a medical foster who was able to commit to her healing and recovery, so we were able to help.

A lot of dogs can get these from straining to defecate, and in puppies, it is most commonly from worms.

The amazing team at Bluff City Veterinary Specialists is overseeing her care. They placed a purse string (a small suture around her anus) to hold her rectum and allow her to be treated for worms. If that holds, the string will be removed. If she prolapses again, we will go in and tack her colon to her body wall (colopexy).

Please keep your paws crossed for a speedy recovery for this little one!
