MEET ZANE!
Zane is one of three Heeler pups who were found on the backroads of a very rural area of Mississippi. He and his two brothers were taken to safety by a very kind man, and thankfully, we were made aware of their situation and were able to help.
Zane is young, probably around 6 months old, and while he is incredibly sweet, he is learning all of the “normal” things that a puppy his age should already know.
Things like...
What it feels like to sleep inside a home on a soft dog bed.
How to wear a collar.
That a harness isn't something to be afraid of.
How to eat out of an actual dog bowl.
That a house can be a safe place.
And, most importantly, what it feels like to receive human love and affection.
This sweet boy wants to be loved SO badly. Everything is new to him, but little by little, he is learning that this new world is a pretty wonderful place.
Zane has already been vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, started on flea and tick prevention, and tested negative for heartworms. He will be neutered soon, and right now he is decompressing in his loving foster home while learning how to simply be a puppy.
Because of his background and everything he still has to learn, we feel Zane's best forever home will have a fenced yard and absolutely must have an established dog in the home. Another dog will help show him the ropes, build his confidence, and teach him all the things he missed out on during those first months of his life.
Zane is safe. He is inside. He has a soft place to sleep. His belly is full. And he is learning what it means to be loved.
For now, there is no more surviving on rural backroads.
Zane is safe. He is inside. He has a soft place to sleep. His belly is full. And he is learning what it means to be loved.
Soon, he'll be ready for the final piece of his new life — a forever family of his very own.
Zane is in Memphis, Tennessee.
