I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Hi! My Name Is Zeke

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

 Meet Zeke!

Zeke is one of three Heeler brothers who were found together on the backroads of a very rural area of Mississippi. A kind man got the boys to safety, and once we learned about them, we were able to bring all three into rescue.

Zeke is around 6 months old, and of the brothers, he is definitely our shy guy. He is sweet and gentle, but right now he likes to take his time figuring out this whole new world around him.

And honestly, who can blame him?

So many things most puppies grow up knowing are brand new to Zeke. Living inside a house, sleeping on a dog bed, wearing a collar, having a harness put on, eating from a dog bowl and having humans reach down to give him love and affection — he is learning it all one day at a time.

Zeke may be shy, but underneath that uncertainty is a very sweet boy who wants to trust. Every new experience and every gentle interaction helps him understand that he is safe now and that people can be pretty wonderful.

Zeke has been vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, started on flea and tick prevention, and tested negative for heartworms. He will be neutered soon. Right now, his job is simply to decompress, learn and gain confidence in his loving foster home.

Because Zeke is shy and still learning how to navigate life as a family dog, he absolutely needs an established dog in his forever home. A confident canine friend can show him the ropes and help him feel secure. He will also need a fenced yard and a family willing to give him the patience and time he needs to blossom at his own pace.

There is no rush, Zeke.

No more backroads. No more wondering where your next meal will come from. No more trying to figure things out on your own.

You're safe now, sweet boy. Take all the time you need.

Zeke is in Memphis, Tennessee and will be available for adoption soon!
