Meet Maxene!
This adorable little Yorkie mix is just 2 years old ( born Nov. 17, 2023) and ready for a fresh start in life!
Maxene came to us along with her sister, Patty, after their owner surrendered them to a fellow rescuer because she simply no longer wanted them. When we learned about their situation, we said YES!
When the girls arrived, they were covered in fleas, severely underweight, and anemic. Thankfully, those difficult days are behind them. Maxene is now safe in a wonderful foster home where she is receiving all the love and care she deserves.
She has already been groomed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, tested negative for heartworms, and started on both heartworm and flea prevention. She currently weighs about 7 pounds and will need to gain another 3–4 pounds to reach a healthy body condition before she can be spayed.
Maxene is an incredibly loving little girl! She gets along well with the cat in her foster home as well as the other dogs. Although she is currently being fostered with her sister, our observations so far indicate that the girls are not bonded and would do just fine in separate homes. They both enjoy attention and affection and are happy to soak up all the love they can get!
Maxene is being fostered in Memphis and will be looking for her forever family once she is medically ready. We think she is going to make someone a wonderful companion. ❤️
