I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Dixie

I'm Available

Meet Dixie !

Dixie came to us as a very young puppy with two leg fractures. She was found in a box along with her littermates in rural Mississippi. The finder was able to care for the rest of the litter but could not provide the medical care Dixie needed, so we  stepped in to help.

X-rays revealed two older fractures—one in her front left leg and one in her right rear leg. Because she was so young, both were repaired using external fixators so the hardware could later be removed once healed without interfering with her growth. Her front leg had to be carefully rebroken and reset to allow it to heal properly. Thanks to the awesome vet and staff at Bluff City Veterinary Specialists she received the best care!

The wonderful news is that on March 4th, BOTH fixators were removed after X-rays confirmed that her legs had healed beautifully! Now Dixie can finally run and play like the happy puppy she was always meant to be.

Dixie is estimated to have been born around December 18, 2025. She is current on vaccines, has started heartworm and flea prevention, has been wormed, and is microchipped. She will be spayed soon. She currently weighs about 13 pounds .

She loves all the dogs in her foster home and can easily hold her own with larger breeds. Dixie has a very energetic, bouncy play style and a joyful personality. She is kennel trained and walks well on a leash despite her young age.

Dixie lives with young children in her foster home and absolutely adores them. She has also been around cats—if they run she may chase, but otherwise she mostly ignores them.

If you are local to the Memphis area, we do offer a Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) option. If you are outside the Memphis area, no worries! We do adopt out of area once a dog is fully vetted, which in Dixie’s case means her final vaccines and spay. While she is in a foster-to-adopt home, we continue to cover all of her medical and care needs.

Either way, we would love to find this sweet girl the forever family she deserves.

Because of her age and energy level, a fenced yard is a must  and apartment living would not be a good fit. A home with an established canine friend would be ideal so she has a playmate to keep up with her puppy energy.

Dixie is currently in Memphis and ready to start the next chapter of her life!
