This absolutely handsome hunk of a pup is searching for his forever home! Dutch was born around December 27, 2024, so he’s still very much a puppy—but already weighed 47 pounds by June 5th. He’s going to be a big boy when fully grown!
Dutch appears to be mostly (if not all) Anatolian Shepherd. He is: neutered,up-to-date on vaccines,microchipped,current on heartworm & flea prevention,tested negative for heartworms, kennel trained and leash trained.
Dutch is wonderful with other dogs, good with children, and is simply a gentle giant in the making.
ABOUT THE BREED:
Anatolian Shepherds are a large, powerful, and highly protective breed. They are known for their loyalty and natural guarding instincts, which make them excellent protectors, but they do require an owner who understands and respects the breed’s needs.
Socialization is key. Dutch is being socialized now, and it is essential that his future family continues this. Without consistent exposure to new people, animals, and environments, this breed can become wary or even aggressive toward strangers due to their protective nature.
Strong leadership required. This is not a breed for first-time dog owners. Dutch will thrive in a home with an experienced, confident, and consistent pack leader.
Best with older children. While calm and devoted, this breed’s size and power make them better suited for homes with older kids who understand how to interact respectfully with large dogs.
